A Practical Introduction to Attachment-Based Couples Therapy
Caroline Landen, LMFT
About this training
Feel confident working with individuals… but a little less sure when there are TWO people in the room? You’re not alone. Couples work asks clinicians to track two people, two emotional experiences, and the relationship happening between them, all at the same time. It can be incredibly rewarding work. It can also feel intimidating if you don’t have a clear framework for understanding what’s actually happening between two partners and where to intervene. That’s exactly what this training is designed to give you. Whether you already work with couples and want to strengthen your skills or you’ve wanted to add couples work to your caseload but haven’t quite felt ready, this practical, introductory training will give you a roadmap for getting started. You don’t need to become an expert in couples therapy overnight. You need a framework that helps you understand what you’re seeing in the room. Grounded in attachment science and informed by Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Caroline Landen, LMFT will teach you how to look beyond the surface-level argument and begin identifying the attachment needs, emotions, protective strategies, and negative cycles driving a couple’s distress. Instead of wondering: Who’s right? Who’s wrong? What am I supposed to do with this argument? You’ll begin learning to ask: What is happening between these two people, what is keeping them stuck, and how can I help them create something different? Through case examples, experiential learning, and practical clinical application, you’ll build a foundational roadmap you can actually take back into the therapy room. By the end of the day, you’ll be better equipped to: - Understand key attachment concepts and how they show up in adult romantic relationships - Identify patterns contributing to conflict, disconnection, and relationship distress - Look beneath reactive behaviors to recognize attachment needs, emotions, and protective strategies - Recognize and map the negative interaction cycles keeping couples stuck - Use foundational attachment-based interventions to increase emotional safety, understanding, and connection - Begin guiding couples from reactive patterns toward more secure and responsive interactions Most importantly? You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of what to look for, what to listen for, and what to do next when relationship dynamics enter the therapy room. Learn from someone who really knows couples work AND knows how to teach it. Caroline Landen, LMFT is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with more than 14 years of clinical experience specializing in attachment-based therapy, relationships, and emotional well-being. What makes Caroline especially valuable as a trainer is her ability to take complex attachment theory and relationship science and make it practical, accessible, and engaging. You won’t spend six hours listening to theory you’re not sure how to use. Caroline’s teaching is designed to help you understand the concepts and know what they actually look like in the therapy room.
